In furtherance of its sensitivity and social responsibilities to the people, Omo Oninuure Foundation, (OOF) a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) has distributed face masks, sanitizers and other relief materials to the people on Monday, in its efforts to cushion the effect of the spread of COVID-19 pandemic in Ekiti West local government area of Ekiti State.
As some States in Nigeria settle to relax the total restriction of movement on residents, Ekiti inclusive, OOF has risen to the occasion knowing full well that the masses would need the nose covers and other materials to stay safe while pursuing their day-to-day activities during the period of relaxation of the total lockdown.
The foundation established primarily for the well-being and support of Nigerian people has started empowerment and philanthropic gestures in Ekiti West local government since 2019. The distribution of free face masks is in continuation of the giant strides.
During the distribution of the materials, the founder of the organization who is a successful business man, an industrious son of Ido-Ile Ekiti, Comrade Oluwatosin James Onifade urged the residents in the local government, Ekiti State and Nigeria to be conscious of the precautionary measures as stipulated by NDDC and comply completely to the orders of both the Federal and State governments.
“This is part of our own contribution to the welfare and sound health of our people in Ekiti West local government. We have resolved to relentlessly do our bit in making life easier for our people. especially In this period of Coronavirus pandemic, it is our obligation, as citizens of Nigeria, to maintain social distancing, use of face masks and other materials to stop the further spread of the virus in our country” , Comrade Onifade said.
Recall that OOF had previously distributed maize seeds, herbicides and other farm implements to the farmers in the area to increase productivity in the area of agriculture.
It is also on record that the Foundation has given UTME schorlaships to six (6) indegenous Secondary School Students from the local government in 2019. This is with a promise to sponsor whoever comes out with flying colors in the examination, to the University level.
Meanwhile, the Olojudo of Ido-Ile Ekiti, HRM Oba Aderemi Obaleye Otutubiosun II has commended the untiring efforts of Omo Oninuure Foundation, saying the constituency has never had it so good in the past. The Otutubiosun II said “those who had such mindsets to better the lots of their people in such a magnanimous manner are rare”. He said the people of his town (Ido-Ile Ekiti) will remain grateful for the generousity of the Foundation, over the time.
Oba Obaleye also charged the Foundation to continue to uplift the well-being and development of the communities in the area, praying “Almighty God will continue to bless and provide for you as you have deemed it necessary to contribute your own quota towards the betterment and upliftment of your people “, Oba Obaleye said.
In his words, the Owa Oye of Okeimesi-Ekiti, HRM Oba Michael Gbadebo Adedeji, the Ariyowonye II expressed happiness with the actualisation of people oriented programmes by the OOF. He showered prayers on the foundation and urged it to continue in that spirit.
Feelers in the Constituency II of Ekiti West local government also expressed happiness and satisfaction about the efforts of Omo Oninuure Foundation. According to them, the Foundation has lived up to the meaning and reality of its name.
The Okada riders, artisans, the Iyalojas and the people in the communities, who trooped out massively to receive the free masks enjoined the Foundation to continue their selfless service.
