PDP ZONAL SECRETARY CONGRATULATES ADELEKE AS COURT WITHDRAWS EXAMINATION MALPRACTICE

The Zonal Secretary of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South West, Rev. Bunmi Jenyo has congratulated the party’s flagbearer in the 2018 governorship election in Osun State, Sen. Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke over his exclusion from a case bothering on examination malpractice at an Abuja High Court.

Justice Ekwo had on Thursday granted the prosecution intention to amend the case to exclude Ede-born politician from all charges in the suit, bothering on a case of alleged impersonation of Sen. Adeleke at Ojo Aro Community Grammar School, Ojo-Aro, Osun State.

In a press statement obtained by the Nigeran Platform in Osogbo on Friday, PDP Zonal Secretary maintained that the coast is completely clear for Sen. Adeleke to aspire or become the next governor of Osun State come 2022.

The statement also noted that all the cases bothering on eligibility to contest and examination malpractice levelled against Sen. Adeleke were mere “political distraction”.

As a result, Sen. Ademola Adeleke has been discharged and acquitted of all cases bothering on examination malpractices.

According to Rev. Bunmi Jenyo, “indications emerged on Thursday 28th May 2020 that the political distraction of a case of examination malpractice levelled against the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2018 governorship election in Osun State, cannot hold water as the Federal Government withdrew charges against Sen. Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke from the case”.

“It is another pointer to the fact that the Ede-born politician is eminently qualified, competent and clean to aspire and or become the Executive Governor of Osun State, in 2022”, he said.

Recall that Sen. Ademola Adeleke was dragged to the Justice Ekwo High Court in Abuja over an alleged commission of impersonation in the 2017 June/July NECO examination at Ojo Aro Community Grammar School, Ojo-Aro, Osun State,, alongside four other respondents.

Justice Ekwo had granted Sen. Adeleke bail to travel to the United States of America (USA) on medical grounds. At the mention of the case at the court on Thursday, the prosecution lawyer, Simon Lough had announced the intention of the state which the defendant’s lawyers led by Alex Izinyon (SAN) did not object, to amend the case to exclude Sen. Adeleke.

Rev Bunmi Jenyo emphasized that it is a feat that is capable to silence those who did not have confidence in Sen. Adeleke.

“This happening is another factor that puts a stop to insinuation that Sen. Adeleke might be having some legal huddles to cross to clinch the ladder of becoming the number one citizen of Osun State in 2022”.

“Also worthy of note are the other cases bothering on eligibility of Sen. Adeleke to contest the governorship post of Osun State had been struck out at the level of Supreme Court”, the statement stated.
