NIPR CHARGES NUJ ON VALUES FOR LEADERSHIP IN OSUN
The leadership of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) in Osun State, led by its Chairman, Alhaji Adebisi Popoola has charged members of Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) on core values of acceptable administration in the interest of peace, unity and progress of Osun State.
This was contained in his goodwill message during a congratulatory visit to the NUJ Council Secretariat, Press Centre, Iwo/Ibadan road, Osogbo on Tuesday.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Civic Orientation, Popoola who said there has been a solid foundation for the Union already, urged the new leadership under Comrade Wasiu Ajadosu to carry all members along for adequate running of the Union and continue to be fervent in prayers “to record a resounding success”.
Alhaji Popoola who emphasized there was a purpose for being elected, also implored NUJ Chairman to be magnanimous in victory and be “cautious not to look down on members of the Union”, no matter the kind of roles individuals played during electioneering.
According to him, a former Chairman in the Council, Pastor Kayode Akinsola remains a positive reference point in Osun NUJ and that Ajadosu too must strive to leave the indelible footprints on the sand of time, as the Chairman.
He therefore sought a strong collaboration from NIPR, NUJ and other relevant professional bodies to foister peace, security and stability in Nigeria. He cited the need to create a conducive atmosphere for dialogue and meaningful discussion between the protesting youths and the Government, at this critical time, as a virtue of necessity.
While responding, the NUJ Chairman in Osun State, Comrade Wasiu Ajadosu who appreciated the visit, stressed that both NIPR and NUJ belong to the same family.
According to him, the Herculean task of leadership demands consistent efforts on prayers, transparency and collectiveness to be above board in running the affairs of the Union.
Members of the NUJ Executive Committee also in attendance include the Hon. Secretary, Comrade Bukola Elufadejin, Vice Chairman, Comrade Sesan Adeleke and the Financial Secretary, Comrade Lateef Agboola.
