FG ASSURES TO PRIORITIZE DEVELOPMENT OF OSUN’S SPECIAL ECONOMIC ZONE
The Federal Government through the Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority (NEPZA) has assured that it will prioritize the development and efficient operations of Osun’s Special Economic Zone, despite the shortage of funds.
This was part of the discussions of the Osun State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Rev. Bunmi Jenyo, in a few days working visit to the Managing Director of NEPZA, Dr. Olufemi Ogunyemi in his office at Maitama area, Abuja.
The Commerce Commissioner who extended the discussion to the ongoing gate-house and fencing of the Osun’s Special Economic Zone at Otagere, appreciated Dr. Ogunyemi and his team for the hospitality and readiness to join hands with Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke-led administration to industrialize Osun State.
Rev. Jenyo also drew the attention of NEPZA to collaborate with the State government, by introducing viable investors to both the Special Economic Zone and Osun State Free Trade Zone.
Recall that the Special Economic Zone is owned and controlled by the Federal Government while the Free Trade Zone has been licensed by the Federal Government to belong to Osun State.
Despite the gate-house and fencing already at the 95% completion level, the Commissioner also solicited the construction of Administration Block, internal road network and power infrastructures in the Special Economic Zone, to attract investors from across the globe.
According to the Commissioner, the State government is prepared to support NEPZA for immediate take-off of the facility, to justify its existence in Osun State.
“The facilities in other geo-political zones are functioning and that of Osun State must not lag behind. The improved economic well-being of our people is our amiable Governor’s concern that must be addressed. We will not relent in this worthwhile assignment”, he said.
