GOVERNOR ADEMOLA ADELEKE AND THE RAPID DEVELOPMENT ACROSS OSUN STATE
By Bamigbola Gbolagunte
There’s no gainsaying the fact that the Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke has brought about monumental development to the state through his people oriented and people centered programmes which include construction and rehabilitation of roads across the state, construction of fly over, rehabilitation of moribund health centres and provision of free medical health care services among others.
The transformation experienced in many parts of the state, courtesy of the Governor Ademola Adeleke led administration, no doubt, beat the imagination of many indigenes and residents of the state.
In less than two years of administering the state, almost all the Local Government Areas in the state have witnessed landmark development with the presence of the state government’s facilitated projects in such areas.
In Osogbo, the state capital, for instance, the state government embarked upon rapid infrastructural development with two fly over being constructed at the same time and the two of them are near completion. Also, roads that were hitherto moribund were rehabilitated in the state capital and the main roads were also put in better condition to allow easy vehicular movement.
Many of the roads rehabilitated and those constructed have been completed within the period of two years, while work is ongoing on some of the road projects in the state capital and other towns and villages in the state.
The main road at Kobongbogboe in Olorunda Local Government Area of the state is currently being constructed with drainage system almost completed and work about to start on the construction of the road which joins kobongbogboe to other parts of Osogbo. The same is the situation in Dagbolu where the road that leads Dagbolu to Oba Ile and Oba Oke is nearly completed. These are in addition to others that had long been completed like the main road in Inisha, Odootin Local Government Area and station road in Ikirun, headquarters of Ifelodun Local Government Area.
All the massive road construction are in addition to the completion of the road projects embarked upon by the previous administration of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola which include the Ona Baba ona that passes through stadium to testing ground/Oke-Bale and Ilesa garage area of Osogbo. Also the dualization of Osogbo-Ikirun express road which was initiated by Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola’s administration was completed to Alamisi area of Ikirun.
Although the intention of the Aregbesola’s administration was to dualize the road from Gbongan to Ila-Odo kwara State boundary, but the administration could not complete the road project till a new government took over. It was the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke that later remembered the road and completed the dualization to Ikirun.
Besides, the street lights put on the road, especially from Akoda to Dagbolu has further beautified the road and ensure security and safety of the people, especially travellers, drivers and residents of areas close to the road.
The street lights do not only beautify the roads at night but add to the security of the state as men of the underworld cannot perpetrate their dastardly act with the illumination that the street lights have brought to the roads. The roads are now more secured than before as a result of the street lights and kudos have to be given to the state government for the initiative.
The monumental achievements of the Ademola Adeleke’s government is not only limited to Osogbo, but it cuts across all the 30 Local Government Areas of the state as the presence of the state government can be felt in all the nooks and crannies of the state.
The dualization of Akoda to Oke-Gada in Ede is another milestone achievement recorded by the Ademola Adeleke’s government in the are of road construction and rehabilitation. The road when completed will boast economic and commercial activities in Ede and its environs.
No doubt, the government has done well in infrastructure in less than two years and it’s on record that the government also spread its good gesture to other sectors including health and education with provision of quality health care services in the government owned hospitals.
The government of Ademola Adeleke organized free medical treatment including surgeries for people in the state and the medical outreach was taken to all the federal constituencies in the state with people who had almost lost hope on their health raised to life.
Time will not permit mentioning the names of towns and communities that have felt the impacts of the present administration in the state in the area of road construction and rehabilitation
It’s however pertinent that the government extends its good works to other communities that are yet to feel the impacts of the current administration in the area of infrastructure in particular and other spectrum of development at large.
For instance, the people of Iba in Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state may be considered to be at disadvantage as the only major road that leads to the town from Inisha and Iree are in serious deplorable condition as the road is no longer motorable. This is not only sad but also unfortunate as the town is backward, depicting the rapid development going on across the state.
It is therefore important that the government beam its search light on communities that are yet to enjoy the dividends of democracy under the government of Ademola Adeleke for them to also sing songs of victory like others are doing.
Also, it’s important to appeal to the government of Asiwaju Ademola Adeleke to ensure that areas that are yet to enjoy the good deeds of the present administration in the state also feel the presence of the government to ensure even distribution of the dividends of democracy, which Governor Adeleke is known for as a tested and trusted leader that he has proved to be.
