Rev. Bunmi Jenyo assures Southwest Commodities Farmers Organization of Government support

REV. BUNMI JENYO ASSURES SOUTHWEST COMMODITIES FARMERS ORGANIZATION OF GOVERNMENT SUPPORT

The Honourable Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Rev. Bunmi Jenyo has assured the Executives and members of Southwest Commodities Farmers Organization, of the current administration’s commitment to promote the market of agricultural produce in Osun State.

This was part of the Commissioner’s response to the requests of the organization, Osun State Chapter, under the chairmanship of Alhaji Rauf Okunade Adeyemo and other members of the Executives who paid him a working visit in his office on Thursday.

The Commissioner who referred the organization to the Ministry of Agriculture for other benefits, asserted that his ministry (Commerce and Industry) will assist the organization in the commercial aspect of their activities.

This, according to the Commissioner, involves marketing of their commodities with acceptable standards within both their organization, market women and men and by extension, members of the public.

According to the Commissioner, “while I apologize for my inability to meet you earlier than this because of our schedule of work, I must commend your bold efforts to let the government know your challenges, as an organization. And you can be rest assured that Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke is ever prepared to put smiles on your faces”.

“We will create a reliable market for you, where all your commodities will be exchanged for money as appropriate. Gone are those days when someone else would usurp your powers by dictating prices for your own products”, he said.

Earlier, the chairman of the organization, Alhaji Adeyemo had lamented how market women usually frustrated farmers efforts by fixing prices for their products without any recourse to them.

According to Alhaji Adeyemo “market women always frustrated the efforts of farmers, they always wanted to dictate prices of products to the farmers, which is at a loss to farmers. This is inappropriate and unacceptable”.

He charged the Governor Adeleke’s administration to come to their rescue without further delay. “The government should kindly intervene, so as not to allow the market women to enslave us any longer”.

He also charged the government of Osun State to bring about a uniform measurement and price in the markets across the length and breadth of the State.

Adeleke’s spokesperson carpets Benedict Alabi on ‘misguided notion’ over Osun Governor’s performance

ADELEKE’S SPOKESPERSON CARPETS BENEDICT ALABI ON ‘MISGUIDED NOTION’ OVER OSUN GOVERNOR’S PERFORMANCE

The Spokesperson to the Osun State Governor, Mallam Olawale Rasheed has asked a former Deputy Governor in the state, Benedict Alabi, to bury his head in shame over his misguided notion on the performance of Governor Ademola Adeleke, saying that Alabi’s attempt to misrepresent the reality of things in Osun stems from his sense of guilt as number two man in a failed administration.

This was contained in a press statement made available to newsmen in Osogbo on Sunday.

Mallam Rasheed enjoined Alabi to show some remorse on the monumental pains that policies and inadequacies of the administration he was a part of caused Osun people for years, knocking him as cheap and insensitive for trying to playdown genuine efforts by Governor Adeleke to clear the mess inherited from the Oyetola administration.

According to him, “the Adeleke’s administration has spent the last 18 months taking Osun out of the woods and setting it on the path of development and growth. Unfortunately, people like Benedict Alabi who created the mess are trying to play on the intelligence of the people, assuming Osun people have forgotten their failed records of yesterday”.

“But our people know and feel the difference. They see appreciable progress in workers’ welfare, infrastructural expansion, health care and responsiveness to their aspirations.

“While Alabi as Deputy Governor for four years has nothing to show in terms of physical infrastructure in his Ikire hometown, we are glad to note that the Adeleke administration has several roads projects in the same Ikire in less than two years in office, some of which has been completed, while health facilities and schools have been renovated and equipped.

“Instead of showing remorse and recognising the effect of good governance as demonstrated by Governor Adeleke, not just in terms of infrastructural renewal, but also welfare of the people, Alabi, just like most of his co-travellers in the shredded state APC, continues to live in denial”, the Spokesperson further knocked the Ikire politician.

Mallam Rasheed emphasizes the manifestation of the pro-people governance adopted by the Adeleke administration, noting that Alabi must be confused to claim in one breadth that Governor Adeleke has nothing to show in office, whereas, in another breadth, claim that projects embarked by the Governor is controversial.

“While we understand that the confusion of Alabi stems from his inability to handle the truth of Governor Adeleke’s superlative performance, it is important to ask him whether it is the policy of paying the owed half salary that his government refused to touch that is controversial?

“Or, is the payment of inherited cooperative deductions by the current government controversial? Or is Alabi saying that the release of bonds totalling over N12 billion compared to N11.7 billion for the 12 years of APC government is controversial?

“In less than two years, Governor Adeleke has done a lot, including paying the financial implication of promotion given by the Government that Alabi served in as Deputy Governor. The multi-billion naira infrastructure plan of Governor Adeleke is going on across Osun at this moment, promising not just the ease of movement, but also placing Osun as an investment destination as a result of an expanded infrastructure network.

“The candid truth is that the APC administration’s, which Alabi was part of, failed in Osun, and anyone involved in that ignoble past always try to see failure in others too, as we can see with the former Deputy Governor. The argument that allocation has gone up is watery, especially when it is observed that naira has shed value significantly, and that obligations such as wage award, half salary debt payment and micro-credit support was never an issue for the past government.

“The Adeleke administration will never submit itself to the gauge of those who failed the state yesterday as it is not prepared to fail the people too. We will continue to pursue policies and interventions that will make life much easier for the people so that they will not be tempted to return to the horrible experience of the past.”, he said.
