This was part of his opening remarks as the Chairman of the occasion, where he described the author of the book, Prince James Oludare Arinloye as a true son of Imesi-Ile and a historian per excellence, found in this current generation.

According to him, the book is very significant because of being historic in the existence of Imesi-Ile, as an ancient town in Yorubaland.

Elder Abiona who pointed out that the Holy Bible and Qur’an are read worldwide today however lamented the inability of the entire black race to write history and publish books from time to time.

According to him “our situation as a people has been in a mess because writers of history are no more. Why is the blackmen not writing down their history? Anytime I see Africans putting pen on paper, I feel happy”.

Elder Abiona also lauded the focus, doggedness and knowledgeable inspiration of the author, who painstakingly concretize important happenings about Imesi-Ile inside the book.

Earlier in the author’s welcome address, a graduate of accounting, a lecturer and historian, Prince Arinloye has pointed out that history writing ” must not be left exclusively to the historians” and that he has commenced work on the book exactly 45 years ago. “The journey started in 1976 as a primary school pupil in Imesi-Ile” he said.

The presentation day, according to the him is historic. “It is a day of history because I am presenting to the world a book that journalizes the historical journey of a town (Imesi-Ile) that once served as the capital of a Confederacy of towns and villages in Yorubaland”, he explained.

Prince Arinloye maintained that it was his own quota, towards progress and development as an indigene of the town.

“I have written more than 10 academic books, apart from journals, but none of these was of any direct benefit to my community (Imesi-Ile). So, this publication is a token of my contribution to community development” he said.

In his words, the Arojo of Irojo, Oba Moses Olusegun who represented the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Dr. Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran, criticised the alarming rate at which Yoruba norms, values and cultural heritage are gradually going into extinction.

Oba Adekunle berated the educated Yoruba people for being the enemies of Yoruba race. He frowned at some Yoruba parents who speak borrowed languages to their children and whose cultural heritage has been jettisoned.

Oba Adekunle who expressed Oba Aromolaran’s happiness and interest in the book therefore urged all Yoruba indegenes to turn over a new leaf and uphold the cultural ethos of the Yoruba race at all times.

Modelling farm set-up that addresses economic, security situation is our target – Sen. Oriolowo

MODELLING FARM SET-UP THAT WILL ADDRESS ECONOMIC, SECURITY SITUATION IS OUR TARGET – SEN. ORIOLOWO

A Senator representing Osun West Senatorial District in the 9th National Assembly, Sen. Adelere Adeyemi Oriolowo has assured a secured and peaceful coexistence of his constituents through farming.

The Iwo-born politician who stated this in a chat with Nigerian Platform in his country home at the weekend, stressed the need to “protect and provide for the existence of others, if you want to enjoy your own existence”.

This according to him, was part of his efforts to make life meaningful for all his people, and make them co-exist peacefully, regardless of their tribes or state of origin.

He decried the Fulani’s way of rearing cattle, describing it as disturbing, while there are better ways of doing it with less stress and better results.

Sen. Oriolowo disclosed that feedlot method of cattle rearing, which is one of his cardinal farming agenda is the best to be adopted by the Fulanis to end the herdsmen/farmers crises in Nigeria.

According to him, ‘this means you have to cage the animals and feed them there. An average Fulani man will tell you it’s impossible but we have proof here, that it is possible. I have been doing it successfully since 2013, you can raise up to 60 heads of cattle on a plot of land of 50 by 100fts, it is very visible and practicable. You only need another piece of land of that size to plant grass with which you feed them”.

The Senator is currently working on a farm estate and name it after the Osun State Governor, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, who according to him, “has made the environment so conducive for development. He is a Governor that has created an enabling environment for progress and development”.

“We have already started a farm estate in Gbongan, we are targeting modelling a farm set-up that will address both economic and security situation of this country. We are going to promote Cocoa on the 70% of the land, because we have a Cocoa factory in Ede, my Senatorial District but there is no Cocoa to fill it” he said.

The food crops are not left out in his plan which is to be included in the Senator’s next budget for the benefit of his constituents, beginning from next year.

He explained that “twenty percent of the land will be used for food crops because no one can do without eating, before Cocoa gets matured, you must eat something”.

He promised that the feedlot method of cattle rearing will also be modelled across all the Local Governments in Osun West Senatorial District.

Cowardice in lawmakers’ bid to subvert political will of Nigerians – Rev. Bunmi Jenyo

PRESS STATEMENT 17/07/2021

THE COWARDICE IN LAWMAKERS’ BID TO SUBVERT POLITICAL WILL OF NIGERIANS!!!

It has become apparent that the hope for egalitarian and saner society is impossible, going by the action of the larger percentage of the National Assembly members (especially the Senators), who kicked against electronic transmission of electoral results in the forthcoming elections in Nigeria.

The cowardice of the unpopular personalities and representation of people’s mandate in the Senators are clearly pronounced to the amazement of electorates and all Nigerians, in all walks of life, across the globe.

Clearly, the political will of the people is being exchanged with unimaginable blows of non-challance, egocentrism, failure and retrogressive mindset of the uncelebrated lawmakers, who became so shameless to perpetuate their unwanted stay in the corridor of power.

Afraid of free, fair and credible polls, no doubt, most of them have thrown caution and decency to the wind, to deliberately jettison the path of truth, the voice of their people and an outstanding factor of rapid advancement in Nigeria’s political system.

Definitely, if electronic voting can be allowed in the Electoral Act amendment, why and how is electronic transmission of results become defective?. The scenario is simply an affirmation of the lawmakers’ inability to live up to the expectations of their electorates, as to true representation.

Certainly, most Nigerian lawmakers could not withstand the possibility of reduction in electoral frauds which, in the first instance, helped them into their current position, that the electronic transmission of results intends to achieve. And they also considered it a strong stumbling block to their returns into their respective Chambers in the next political dispensation.

Without mincing words, it is an act of cowardice, indolence and shame, that the lawmakers rejected the passage of that specific clause in the Electoral Act, despite the loud clamour of the masses to effect a positive change, at least once, for the sake of history and posterity.

However, sooner than later, Nigerians are fully prepared to free themselves from the shackles of maladministration and misrepresentation of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to a government with listening ears and human face, come 2023.
