Osun State reaffirms readiness for industrial, commercial, economic transformation

OSUN STATE REAFFIRMS READINESS FOR INDUSTRIAL, COMMERCIAL, ECONOMIC TRANSFORMATION

Osun State is open for business, industrial advancement, commercial development, and strategic partnerships that will transform lives and strengthen the state’s economic foundation.

The highly anticipated Osun Dinner & Industrial Investment Roundtable officially opened on Tuesday 7th October, at the Oasis Event Centre, Osogbo, bringing together government officials, investors, and development stakeholders to chart a new course for industrial growth in the state.

With the theme “Consolidating the Gains of the Imole Economic Revolution,” the roundtable seeks to build upon the successes of the 2024 Industrial Investment Summit, reaffirming Osun’s readiness to attract meaningful investments and foster productive industrial collaborations.

Representing Governor Ademola Adeleke, the Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi, reiterated the administration’s firm commitment to translating investment pledges into tangible results. He emphasized the government’s vision to transform Osun from a predominantly civil service–driven economy into a robust industrial hub capable of providing sustainable economic opportunities for its citizens.

In his address, Prince Adewusi highlighted the state’s notable progress since the 2024 summit:

“We have laid a solid foundation, attracted strategic investments, and gained invaluable insights from stakeholders across sectors. This roundtable provides a vital platform to consolidate those gains, identify new pathways, and chart a clear course toward industrialisation,” he stated.

He further remarked that Osun is richly endowed — not only with natural resources but with resilience, culture, and hardworking people eager to contribute to growth. He identified major areas of opportunity, including agriculture and agro-processing, solid minerals, tourism and culture, ICT and innovation, manufacturing and light industry, ease of doing business, public-private partnerships, infrastructure development, human capital development, and investor incentives.

Speaking on the state’s achievements, Prince Adewusi noted that in the past two years, the government has delivered transformational infrastructure and industrial initiatives, including:
• The revitalization of the Free Trade Zone, projected to generate over 1,000,000 direct and indirect jobs.
• The establishment of modern markets across the state.
• The creation of farm produce aggregation centres equipped with cold and dry storage facilities, processing units, and farm settlements.
• The implementation of well-structured industrial development, digital transformation, and youth empowerment policies.

He emphasized that Osun is building a vibrant and resilient economy through public-private partnerships, and invited investors to explore the state’s vast potential and take advantage of its business-friendly environment to transform the economy and secure the future of the next generation.

In his welcome address, the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Rev. Dr. Bunmi Jenyo, described the summit as a direct continuation of the successes recorded during last year’s Industrial Investment Summit.

“This roundtable is a product of the bold vision and leadership of His Excellency, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, whose commitment to repositioning Osun as a centre of commerce, industry, and economic excellence in Southwest Nigeria continues to inspire us all,” Dr. Jenyo stated.

He further explained that the roundtable represents a decisive step toward ensuring that Osun evolves from being a supplier of raw materials to becoming a hub for value addition, manufacturing, and global competitiveness.

Dr. Jenyo revealed that following the 2024 Industrial Investment Summit, several investors have expressed interest in establishing industries in the state. The Governor has approved the allocation of industrial plots, and work is underway on their Memoranda of Understanding, after which the projects are expected to commence.

He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for investment, assuring that the Ministry of Commerce and Industry will continue to collaborate closely with investors, local entrepreneurs, and development partners to turn Osun’s economic vision into reality.

“Together, under the leadership of His Excellency, we will build industries, create sustainable jobs, and uplift our people into shared prosperity,” he concluded.

The Commissioner expressed gratitude to investors, stakeholders, and participants for their continued partnership and confidence in Osun State, adding that the deliberations and decisions made at the summit will help shape a brighter and more prosperous future for generations to come.

Governor Adeleke commends Chartered Institute of Directors for outstanding service towards nation building

GOVERNOR ADELEKE COMMENDS CHARTERED INSTITUTE OF DIRECTORS FOR OUTSTANDING SERVICE TOWARDS NATION BUILDING

The Executive Governor of Osun State, Sen. Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke has commended the leadership and members of Nigeria’s Chartered Institute of Directors for their unwavering contributions to Nation Building ‘through the promotion of corporate governance, ethical leadership and institutional excellence’.

This was part of the Governor’s speech at the Investiture ceremony of the 19th President of the institute on Thursday 11th September, 2025 at the Harbour Point, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Governor Adeleke, represented by the Honourable Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Rev. Bunmi Jenyo, who congratulated the 19th President of the Institute, Otunba Adetunji Oyebanji stated that the institute had put the round peg in a round hole.

“The new President is a man of conviction, honour, dedication and selflessness and I have no doubt the Institute has picked the right person to lead this great Institute at this point in time”, Governor Adeleke said.

According to the Governor, “whether in the boardroom or in government, the country needs leaders who are principled, accountable, and focused on long-term development. In charting a new direction for governance, we need leaders who can envision a better future and inspire others to work towards it, who understands the needs and concerns of their people and prioritise their well-being, who are accountable and credible, who can build partnerships and drive collective progress and who can navigate complexity, uncertainty, and adversity, and emerge stronger”.

“Legacy is not truly measured in years spent in the office, but in the impact left behind by leaders. Our legacy must be institutions that are stronger than individuals. This is what the Chartered Institute of Directors, Nigeria is all about as they have consistently picked leaders who have such qualities”.

“As we look at the future, we must recognize that governance is not a static concept. It must evolve to meet the changing needs of our societies. Governance in the 21st century requires innovation, technology, inclusivity, and global competitiveness. This new era calls us to chart a bold direction. We must leverage technology, uphold meritocracy, and embrace transparency as the foundation of governance. The Chartered Institute of Directors thus have a vital role to play mentoring leaders, setting ethical standards, and ensuring our nation’s corporate and governance culture aligns with global best practices”.

“This institute should be a symbol of possibility, vision, resilience, partnership and should strengthen collaboration between the public and private sectors. I have no doubt the institute is moving in this direction. As an individual entrusted with the position of leadership by the good people of Osun State, I reaffirm my commitment to people-centered governance, infrastructural and community development as well as regional and national collaboration. Together, we can chart a new path that drives inclusive and sustainable growth and to guarantee the future of the upcoming generation”.

“In this spirit, I also use this platform to warmly invite Business Moguls, Stakeholders Investors, and Osun indigenes to the forthcoming Osun State Dinner and Industrial Investment Roundtable, scheduled for the 7th–8th of October, 2025 in Osogbo, Osun State. Our State has made significant strides following the 2024 Industrial Investment Summit. We have laid a solid foundation, attracted strategic investments, and garnered invaluable insights from stakeholders across sectors. This upcoming roundtable is a vital platform to consolidate those gains, identify new pathways, and chart a clear course toward industrialisation”, the Governor said.

In his acceptance speech, the new President of the Nigeria Institute of Directors, Otunba Adetunji, reaffirmed a collective purpose, ‘a call to chart, with courage and conviction, the course of our shared future’.

“I accept this sacred trust with reverence and honour, ever mindful that I do so on the broad shoulders of our illustrious forebears and the distinguished past Presidents whose vision, sacrifice and steadfast leadership have built the foundation on which we stand today”, Otunba Adetunji said.

In his keynote address, Prof. Fabian Ajogwu OFR, SAN who dwelt on the theme, “Leadership, legacy and the future of governance: Charting a new direction”, maintained that charting a new direction involved investing in the next generation, thus transferring intergenerational wisdom, which is to be maintained across all sectors of the economy.

Prof. Ajogwu also itemized the attributes of purposeful leadership as self discipline, purpose, accomplishment, responsibility, knowledge, leadership and example.

According to him “recommitment to values-based leadership – Leaders must show that character is
essential. Mentorship and deliberate preparation of young professionals with
the foundation of leadership, valuing honesty, discipline, empathy, and fairness
happen by accident”.

“Four anchors are especially important:
To chart a new direction in governance, intentionality is required; it will not be as highly as technical skill”.

“Strengthening Institutions –Strong leaders may come and go, but resilient
institutions last. Ethical standards of governance and professional conduct must
ensure leadership continuity in an increasingly complex world”, Prof Ajogwu stated.
