Osun workers in mass appreciation rally for Governor Adeleke

OSUN WORKERS IN MASS APPRECIATION RALLY FOR GOVERNOR ADELEKE

● I AM OVERWHELMED BY SHOW OF LOVE – GOV. ADELEKE

Osun public servants today trooped out in their thousands in what they called appreciation solidarity rally in support of Governor Ademola Adeleke for all his support and care for Osun workers since he took over state governance in 2022.

In a consistent demonstration of passionate embrace of the governor and his policies, the workers led by the Head of Service, Elder Ayanleye Aina as early as 8:00am this morning assembled at the secretariat gate, dancing and singing for the state governor.

By the time the state governor arrived the Secretariat around 11:00am, the procession was launched from the gate to the podium of the Governor’s office, carrying placards with inscriptions such as “Osun Workers are solidly with you; Imole is 4+4; We won’t go to Egypt Again; Deep thanks to Imole” among others.

The chairman of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) for Osun state, Comrade Christopher Arapasopo reaffirmed the workers’ endorsement of the governor for a second term, describing Adeleke’s government as workers’ government.

“We assemble here to thank you for all you do for workers. You are one of us as a leader who cares deeply for us. Let the whole world know that Osun workers remain firmly behind our Governor now and all the time.

“We reaffirm our endorsement of Mr Governor for a second term. Today we gather to reaffirm that support. We will not be intimidated to abandon good governance which our governor represents.

“Our backing the governor is in recognition of his achievements especially for public service. His records are unprecedented”, the NLC chairman declared amidst cheering and applause from the tireless crowd.

The State chairman of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Comrade Bimbo Fasasi while repeating the NLC position justified workers’ stance on the ground that the Adeleke government has remained consistent in addressing workers needs and aspirations.

“We are totally with the Governor. We reject any attempt to drag Osun back to the evil past. We are out in show of force to affirm our backing for Mr Governor. See us in our thousands” the TUC Chairman noted.

Also speaking, the Osun state chairman of NULGE, Comrade Kehinde Ogungbangbe said it is illegal to peon local governments accounts without statutory members of the union as signatories.

According to him, it amounts to impersonation to replace statutory signatories as provided by law with APC members, insisting that such account is illegal and in contravention of state finance law.

“We are sending a message to the Ministers of Justice and Finance that Osun workers are with the Governor and the state government on the local government crisis. We are for the rule of law and our Governor is right before the law.

“We thank Mr Governor for continuously paying workers salaries despite the seizure of the local government allocations. If they are still in power, APC will stop the salaries of local workers,” the NULGE leader noted.

The Joint Negotiation Committee Chairman, Comrade Lekan Adediran in his address supported the position of NLC,TUC and NULGE, declaring that “Osun workers are united in their endorsement of Governor Adeleke for second term”

Head of Service, Elder Aina who mobilised the workers for the event expressed the appreciation of the service to the Governor for his enticing efforts towards workers welfare and well being.

“Our labour leaders have spoken so passionately. We deeply commend your consistent support for the workforce. You are not only delivering good governance for the state, you are delivering dividends of democracy even for workers across the Ministries and agencies”, the HOS affirmed.

Responding, Governor Adeleke described the solidarity rally as “manifestation of true love and endorsement by Osun workers.

“I am overwhelmed by your show of love since I took over in 2022. I reaffirm my support for workers welfare, the first item on my five point agenda.

“Expect more goodies and services. I urge you to collect your voter cards. Mobilise your members and families. Let us sustain good governance now and in the future. Use your vote for continuity of responsive leadership and democratic dividends”, the Governor assures the cheering crowd.

The state workforce had earlier endorsed Governor Adeleke for a second term during the 2025 May Day rally.

Request for accountability on Iree Palace donations

REQUEST FOR ACCOUNTABILITY ON IREE PALACE DONATIONS

Accountability is the soul of trust, especially when dealing with people from all walks of life, who cut across the length and breadth of Ireeland, in Boripe local government area of Osun State.

I think it is high time Iree people knew how much has been contributed and appropriately accounted for, from the donations made for the reconstruction and/or renovation of a befitting and modern Aree’s Palace.

The importance of the exact place where the donations were kept by those who are in charge, cannot be over-emphasized.

It is mind-boggling to note that, up till now, Iree people did not know how much they had realized, or the details of the money since it has not been published for the consumption of all. In fact, people are still in doubt about the accountability of the donations, either with any of the financial institutions or in a personal purse.

Notably, Iree Progressive Union (IPA) is the recognized association of all the indegenes which has a separate Bank Account for Iree people, this can also be used for the purpose of transparency, as regards Palace projects or other relevant adventures.

Nobody doubts the veracity of the fact that the people would like their donations to be prudently handled, it can be managed by whoever with genuine interest, whether residing home or or in the diaspora.

For clarification and selfless commitment, it is also expedient to consider the regular publication of the whole money spent.

I appreciate you all for your attention.

Oke mejeeje Iree a gbe wa ooooo, AMIN.

Governor Adeleke committed to make Osun ‘hub of commercial, economic activities’ – Rev. Bunmi Jenyo

GOVERNOR ADELEKE COMMITTED TO MAKE OSUN ‘HUB OF COMMERCIAL, ECONOMIC ACTIVITIES – REV. BUNMI JENYO

The Honourable Commissioner for Commerce and Industry in Osun State has restated the commitment of Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke to make the State a hub of commercial, industrial and economic activities in the South West, Nigeria and beyond.

Rev. Jenyo who represented Governor Adeleke at the Canada-Africa Fintech Summit held at Sheraton Centre Hotel, Toronto Canada made the declaration recently.

The Summit underscores the significance of partnerships in driving fintech innovation, talent development and economic growth in the African Continent.

According to the Commissioner, “the chances of success are higher if the continent leverages on the diasporans’ capabilities in sectors such as Engineering and Technology, Information and Communication, Agriculture, Health, Education, Tourism, Mining, Manufacturing and Renewable Energy, to mention a few. These sectors not only promise substantial financial returns for investors but also align with global trends towards sustainability and technological advancement”.

“Osun State Government is open beyond borders and across space for industrial investment revolutions to investors, Fintechs, ICT Hubs, Manufacturing Industries, World Leaders in Business, Business Executives among others”.

“The Canada-Africa Fintech Summit therefore provides a platform for us to explore opportunities, share ideas and forge partnerships. I believe that our collaboration will yield tangible benefits for both Canada, Africa, Nigeria and Osun State in particular”, the Commissioner said.

In his keynote address, the Nigeria’s Vice President, Sen. Kashim Shettima described the Summit as a gathering that not only symbolized the strength of cross-continental partnerships but also reinforced a collective commitment to shaping a future, where no one is left behind in the digital transformation race.

According to Vice President Shettima, “This summit takes place at a defining moment in our global financial history when digital innovation is disrupting the status quo and reshaping economies. Nigeria and Canada stand as fintech frontrunners on their respective continents, each with unique strengths and complementary visions”.

“In Canada, the fintech sector is valued at over CAD 60 billion and growing, supported by cutting-edge innovations in regtech, open banking, sustainable finance, and digital identity systems. With Toronto being home to over 700 fintech firms and world-class incubators like the MaRS Discovery District, the country is known for its robust innovation ecosystem and stable regulatory environment”.

Nigeria, on the other hand, is the beating heart of Africa’s fintech revolution. Contributing over 60% of Africa’s total fintech funding, Nigeria has raised more than $2 billion in startup capital in just the past few years. Our success stories, Flutterwave, Paystack, Interswitch, Moniepoint, and PiggyVest, are no longer just African brands; they are global players”.

“Today, over 45% of Nigeria’s adult population access digital financial services, up from 21% a decade ago, a testament to our digital transformation drive”.

“Nigeria’s fintech progress is not accidental; it is the result of deliberate and visionary policy action. Under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, we launched the Aso Accord on Economic and Financial Inclusion, a landmark intergovernmental framework for fast-tracking inclusion through collaboration, innovation, and scale. Aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda, our administration is determined to leverage technology to unlock opportunities for job creation, economic diversification, gender equity, and youth empowerment. Through the Presidential Committee on Economic and Financial Inclusion (PreCEFI), we are building inclusive digital ecosystems, expanding biometric identity coverage, reforming MSME finance, and supporting homegrown tech talent with global potential”.

“This Summit presents a golden opportunity for Canada and Nigeria to go beyond bilateral diplomacy to co-create a future driven by inclusive innovation and Nigeria has envisioned four clear pathways to achieve this critical collaboration”, he said.

Meanwhile in his opening remarks, Dr. Segun Aina OFR, who is the President, Africa Fintech Network and Co-Convener, Canada-Africa Fintech Summit (CAFS) 2025 noted that the event is not just a Summit but a “spark, an incredible platform, a movement. A new chapter in how Canada and Africa engage – with Fintech as a bridge”.

According to him, “Africa is entering what I call it’s Fintech Decade – powered by youthful energy, digital hunger and unstoppable innovation. From mobile banking to blockchain, solutions built for Africa are now inspiring the world – right from the days of MPesa and now with not less than nine Fintech unicorns coming out of Africa and tens of near Unicorns across the continent”.

“This Summit, under the theme: “Accelerating Canada-Africa Fintech: Collaboration for Talent, Innovation, Investment and Economic Growth” is where bold ideas become bold action”, Dr. Segun Aina said.

Also, the High Commission of the Republic of Rwanda in Canada urged that the Summit be a starting point for deeper engagement between Africa and Canada. “Let us harness the full potential of Fintech to bridge devides, create opportunities and shape a digital future that reflects the aspirations of our people”.

“Across Africa, the fintech revolution is not on the horizon—it is already here. It is mobile money in Kenya, connecting rural farmers to markets through M-Pesa. It is digital wallets in Ghana and South Africa, empowering small businesses and creating new ecosystems of commerce. It is Rwanda’s Irembo platform, digitizing government services and providing a model for how fintech can enhance transparency, accessibility, and service delivery”.

“These are not isolated innovations; they are building blocks of a broader digital economy that is reshaping Africa’s trajectory. From the African perspective, fintech is more than a sector—it is a strategy. It is about leapfrogging traditional infrastructure, accelerating financial inclusion, and unlocking the potential of over 400 million unbanked adults”.

“It is about connecting entrepreneurs to capital, youth to opportunity, and governments to citizens.Yet, for all its promise, Africa’s fintech landscape faces critical challenges. Many communities still lack reliable access to digital devices and affordable internet”.

“The Digital Transformation Strategy for Africa (2020–2030) and the AU’s Fintech Regulatory Framework offer a harmonized path forward, aiming to create a single digital market aligned with the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA)”.

“This is a bold vision: a continent where innovation can move as freely as goods and people, and where investments are scaled across borders.Canada has a valuable role to play in this story. First, as a partner in investment. Canadian financial institutions, venture capital firms, and technology companies are well-positioned to enter African markets where fintech demand is high and innovation is vibrant”.

“Second, as a partner in knowledge transfer. Canada’s regulatory expertise, cybersecurity institutions, and educational networks can help strengthen Africa’s fintech foundations”.

“And third, as a values-driven ally, Canada can help ensure that Africa’s digital growth is inclusive and anchored in sustainable development. The AfCFTA offers a historic opportunity. With a market of 1.4 billion people and a combined GDP of over $3.4 trillion, it is the world’s largest free trade area. But its real value lies in how it enables regional integration—simplifying cross-border regulations, standardizing digital payments, and unlocking economies of scale”.

“For Canadian investors, this means one investment in Africa is no longer confined to a single country—it can be a gateway to a continental market”, he said.

It is a project that will serve generations and stimulate lasting prosperity,” he said.

Rev. Jenyo lauded Governor Ademola Adeleke for his leadership style, which prioritizes inclusive development, rural transformation, and balanced infrastructural spread across the state. According to him, the Governor has displayed a rare level of sincerity, empathy, and determination to uplift all zones — regardless of political affiliations or geography.

“What Governor Adeleke is building is not just infrastructure, but a legacy of equity and fairness. Ila-Orangun and its people will never forget this moment in our history. We feel seen, valued, and prioritized,” he added.

The Commissioner further emphasized the practical benefits of the dualised road, including improved mobility, better access to markets, reduced transportation stress, and increased investment potential. He stated that the economic and social ripple effects of such a project would be felt far beyond the township itself.

“This project will boost trade, enhance transportation, and attract more economic opportunities to our area. It is a game-changer for local businesses, transport operators, farmers, and residents. It will also serve as a vital link in the broader development agenda of Osun State,” he remarked.

He encouraged all residents of Ila-Orangun and the surrounding local government areas to reciprocate the Governor’s gesture with unity, loyalty, and active community support. According to Rev. Jenyo, the continuity of Governor Adeleke’s administration is essential to consolidate these gains and complete many more life-changing initiatives.

“This is a time for all of us — elders, youths, traders, and leaders — to stand as one. Let us appreciate this government by supporting it wholeheartedly. Development like this must not be interrupted; it must be preserved and allowed to grow,” he urged.

In his concluding remarks, Rev. Bunmi Jenyo offered fervent prayers for the continued strength, wisdom, and protection of Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke. He expressed hope that the Governor’s positive impact on Osun State would earn him the opportunity to return to office in 2026 and complete the progressive journey he has begun.

“I pray that the Almighty GOD will continue to grant Governor Adeleke divine wisdom, good health, and the courage to keep doing what is right for the people. May his leadership be sustained beyond 2026 so that the good works already started can be completed and multiplied across every corner of Osun State,” he said.
