Court-sacked Yes/No Chairmen: Osun APC Raised false alarm

COURT-SACKED YES/NO CHAIRMEN: OSUN APC RAISED FALSE ALARM

● Afraid of Court Actions over Illegal Occupation of LG Secretariats

● Gov Adeleke Files no Case on LG Face Off

OSOGBO – 06/04/2025 – Osunstate.gov.ng

Osun state All Progressive Congress (APC) is afraid of imminent backlash over its illegal occupation of local government secretariats and has embarked on an open blackmail of the judiciary.

Additionally, the state APC is lying about an open secret that it faces three lawsuits over its invasion of the local government secretariats namely; the first by the duly elected local government chairmen and councillors of PDP under ALGON, the second by the state local government workers under NULGE and the third by the All Peoples Party (APP) which sued the APC for contempt of Court for ignoring a subsisting court judgement that sacked its Yes/No chairmen.

In all these cases, Governor Ademola Adeleke did not and has no intention of instituting any court action after his directive to PDP elected chairmen and councilors to abide by the rule of law and avoid violence.

The APC alarm of plots to deploy violence against the illegal court-sacked Yes/No chairmen is mere fantasy and failed attempt to escape the legal consequences of their unconstitutional and reprehensible occupation of local governments secretariats across Osun state.

It would be recalled that direct stakeholders in the current face off took legal actions to eject usurpers and anti-democratic elements from local government secretariats across the state.

The validly elected council chairmen, vice Chairmen and councillors filed very potent lawsuits to flush out Yes/No council chairmen who are on a campaign of self help rather than rule of law.

The workers union at the local government level, NULGE, as an interested stakeholder has also resorted to the judicial system.

The specific reliefs were sought from the courts by both NULGE and the legally elected council chiefs as follows:

Governor Adeleke to Attend Investment Summit, Commonwealth Trade, Investment Forum in London

GOVERNOR ADELEKE TO ATTEND INVESTMENT SUMMIT, COMMONWEALTH TRADE, INVESTMENT FORUM IN LONDON

● TO VISIT BRITISH MUSEUM FOR TALKS ON CREATIVE SECTOR COLLABORATION

● PREACHES PEACEFUL COEXISTENCE AMONG TRADITIONAL RULERS

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State is scheduled to attend a series of high-level investment engagements in London this week, including the prestigious Commonwealth Business Forum and other targeted investment summits.

This was contained in a news release by the Spokesperson to the State Governor, Mallam Olawale Rasheed in Osogbo on Sunday.

In a global climate where developed economies are actively seeking new investment frontiers, Governor Adeleke will also hold strategic meetings with key stakeholders, including the UK Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy to Nigeria, to attract capital and partnerships into Osun’s priority sectors.

As part of his official itinerary, the Governor will visit the British Museum to explore potential areas of collaboration in the creative and cultural sectors, an effort to further harness and export Osun’s rich heritage, arts, and creative talents.

During his various engagements, the Governor is expected to spotlight Osun State’s reformed investment climate, emphasizing:
• Reduction in infrastructure deficits
• Harmonization of the tax system
• Enhanced security for lives and property
• 45-day window for the issuance of Certificates of Occupancy for business-related land use

Since November 2022, Osun State has hosted over 100 potential investors, with more than half of those interests translating into active projects across key economic sectors.

Meanwhile, Governor Adeleke has appealed to traditional rulers across the state to foster peace and refrain from actions that could trigger discord or public confrontations.

According to the Governor, “our royal fathers are the age-long custodians of peace and unity in their towns and villages. They are symbols of harmony and serve as grassroots mediators,” Governor Adeleke stated.

“Whenever we are faced with governance challenges, we often turn to our royal fathers for guidance and intervention. The State Council of Traditional Rulers recently hosted me for discussions on critical state matters. That council is too vital to allow internal disputes spill into the public domain.”

“We cannot afford a situation where Royal Fathers are seen openly fighting one another. Left unchecked, such conduct may fuel communal tension. I urge our revered monarchs to be mindful of their public utterances in the interest of unity and peaceful coexistence across the state”, he said.

Court commences hearing on Inisha Chief Imam tussle

COURT COMMENCES HEARING ON INISHA CHIEF IMAM TUSSLE

Hearing commenced before the Osun State High Court sitting in Iragbiji, headquarters of Boripe Local Government Area of Osun State on Tuesday over the appointment of the Chief Imam of Inisha in Odootin local government area of the state.

The appointment of the Chief Imam of Inisha had in 2021 led to serious fracas in the town, a situation which resulted in breakdown of law and order.

While a section of the Muslim community in the town supported Imam Abdulazeez Tijani, others were in support of Alhaji Abdulakeem Mahamadujamiu.

For years the town was left without chief Imam until the state Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke and the League of Imams and Alfas in the state intervened in the crisis.

The matter which had been pending in court since 2021 was brought before Justice G.O Lawal of the Iragbiji division of the state High Court on Tuesday.

Counsel to the plaintiff, Mr Jimoh Adebimpe Abdulmumini told the court that two Chief Imams were turbaned in Inisha on a single day, a situation which he said led to serious fracas in the town.

One of the witnesses, Jimoh Ibrahim said during cross examination that one Chief Imam was turbaned in the morning, while another one was turbaned in the evening at the same Central mosque, Inisha

He affirmed that crisis erupted at the mosque as a result of the turbaning of the two Imams.

However, Justice Lawal has adjourned the case to 7th March, 2025 for further hearing.
