OYETOLA, FAMUREWA, MOSHADEK, OTHERS CELEBRATE LEGAL YEAR

Osun State Governor, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola on Tuesday hosted members of the state judiciary at a dinner to celebrate the end of the 2020 legal year.

The Governor was joined at the dinner held at the government house by the chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Hon Ajibola Famurewa and the commissioner (Technical) in the board, Dr Moshood Adekunle Oluawo.

Others at the dinner were the Special Adviser to the Governor on Civic Engagement, Hon Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, the state commissioner for Commerce, co-operative and Empowerment, Mrs Olusola Ogunfolaju and the commissioner for Political Strategy, Mr Taiwo Akeju.

Speaking at the event, Governor Oyetola lauded the members of the judiciary for their efforts at building a virile society.

In his speech, Oluawo, popularly called Moshadek hailed the judiciary for upholding the tenets of the legal practice.

Also, he commended members of the judiciary for their neutrality in the affairs of the state, just as he urged them to keep up the tempo.

Osun monarch calls for cultural re-awakening

OSUN MONARCH CALLS FOR CULTURAL RE-AWAKENING

A prominent traditional ruler in Osun State, the Eburu of Iba, Oba Adekunle Okunoye has called on the government at all levels to develop the tourism sector, for the economic development of the country.

Besides, the monarch called for the reawakening of cultural and traditional values of the Yoruba people, which he described as the best in the world.

To this end, the monarch tasked the government of all Yoruba speaking states in the country to develop the culture and tradition of the Yoruba race.

Oba Okunoye who is also a professor of Information Communication Technology spoke at the maiden Eburu Adekunle cultural renaissance held in In, headquarters of Ifelodun North Area office of Osun State.

He noted that the culture of Yoruba people is gradually going into extinction due to the poor recognition given to it by the Yoruba people and inability to promote it.

He said foreigners appreciate the culture and tradition of the Yoruba People more than the Yorubas themselves, and therefore called for a change of orientation about Yoruba culture, saying that promotion of culture and tradition does not translate to religious rebellion.

He lauded the Governor Gboyega Oyetola led administration for the values placed on culture, just as he commended the governor for his developmental strides in the last two years that he took over the reins of government in the state.

He said the state is blessed with various historical and tourist centres capable of attracting foreign investors to the state.

In his remarks, the state Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr Obawale Adebisi who represented the Governor, Mr Gboyega Oyetola assured that the state government will develop all tourist centres in the state to serve as means of generating revenue.

He also assured that the state government will collaborate with traditional rulers in the state to identify tourist centres and tap into the economic benefits of the tourism sector.

He also challenged well meaning individuals in the country to invest in the tourism sector, just as he tasked the people to promote culture rather than castigating it in the name of religion.

Monarch charges health workers to be careful in handling patients’ lives

MONARCH CHARGES HEALTH WORKERS TO BE CAREFUL IN HANDLING PATIENTS’ LIVES

The Owalare of Ilare-Ijesa, His Royal Majesty, Oba Emmanuel Adejoro Otebolaku has charged the health workers in Nigeria to be more careful with the lives of their patients.

The Owalare stated this on Monday in his royal message delivered at the annual general meeting and scientific conference of the Association of Resident Doctors, LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, Osun State.

In his royal message, Oba Otebolaku who maintained that life is a gift of God, charged medical Doctors to deal with people with the fear and spirit of God, who does all things.

The Owalare who was accompanied by the High Chief Olajubu also urged doctors and other health workers to uphold the moral and civil regulations that guide their profession instead of seeing patients as inferior to them.

According to the Monarch, doctors must be able to maintain practicable interaction and good relationship with their parents.

“In your discharge of duties, I urge you to uphold the moral and civil regulations that guide your profession, respect the dignity of your patients and do not see them as inferior human beings in your interaction with them” Oba Otebolaku stated.

He also charged them to revive the hope of existence in people rather than denigrating them in the line of their duties. *Maintain good doctor-and-patient relationship, counsel them and let them see hope in their existence even in their sickness”, he emphasized.

The Monarch who appreciated Governor Gboyega Oyetola for establishing Osun Health Insurance Scheme (OHIS) for civil servants and the general public in Osun State, prayed that no life will be lost as the year 2020 is running to an end.

“It is a good initiative to improve health care delivery in the state, but my advice for Government is that they should be more careful in the accreditation of hospitals that are used for the scheme, only hospitals with good facilities and personnel should be approved for the scheme. Above all, I commend the State Governor Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola for introduction of the scheme and I call on people to make use of the opportunity”, Oba Otebolaku added.

NUJ Osun to induct prominent Nigerians into Hall of Fame

NUJ TO INDUCT PROMINENT NIGERIANS INTO HALL OF FAME IN OSUN

Nigeria Union of Journalists, Osun State council will on Thursday hold 2020 edition of induction into NUJ hall of fame.

A statement by the Chairman of the union Comrade WasiuAjadosu and Secretary comrade Bukola Elufadejin indicated that the event which hold at NUJ press centre,Osogbo by eleven o’clock in the morning will be chaired by the former chairman of the union and General Manager of Kings FM,Ibadan,Pastor Kayode Akinsola.

The statement noted that the royal fathers of the day include Olufon of Ifon orolu,Oba Moroof Magbagbeola and Loja of Ibodi,Oba Omisade Agboluaje while the state Head of Service,Dr Oyebade Olowogboyega is the Special Guest of Honour.

It maintained that the Executive Director of Centre for Black culture and international understanding and a Professor of History,Professor Siyan Oyeweso will speak on the paper titled National Security Challenges in the face of Recession:Endless Road to Nation Building.

The statement added that the former Secretary of NUJ in Osun state and Ogun State Commandant NSCDC, Alhaji Hammed Bodunrin, The Member,House of Representatives, Honourable Lawrence Ayeni,Osun state commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs, Honourable Yekini Adebayo Adeleke ,The Chairman of Atakumosa East local Government, Honourable Femi Kujenbola and the chairman of AAF Foundation, Engineer Adedapo Adelowokan will be inducted into the union Hall of fame.

Others include the Regional Head,Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company,Osun region, Mr Akinleye Ogunleye and the chairman SUBEB,Hon Isreal Famurewa.

Moshadek calls for development of Yoruba culture, tradition

MOSHADEK CALLS FOR DEVELOPMENT OF YORUBA CULTURE, TRADITION

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Chief Moshood Adekunle Oluawo has called for the reawakening of cultural and traditional values of the Yoruba people.

A heartfelt condolence to Kabiyesi, the Olowo of Owo on the demise of his mother, who slept in the LORD without saying goodbye.

Our consolation is in the fact that Yeye lived a well-spent and fulfilled life, by affecting lives of numerous individuals positively, in variety of ways.

Mama has ran a great race worthy of emulation, she served humanity and GOD deligently, even to the point of death, and she actually ate part of her labour.

Mama, your efforts on Earth before your painful departure have been and will continue to yielding positive results.

May GOD rest Mama’s soul in Paradise, elongate the reigns of Kabiyesi and grant all her loved ones the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss, AMEN. 🙏

Ex AA National Chairman re-arraigned over alleged fraud

EX AA NATIONAL CHAIRMAN RE-ARRAIGNED OVER ALLEGED FRAUD

Former National Chairman of the Action Alliance (AA), Mr Kenneth Obidiche Udeze was on Tuesday rearraigned before an Osun State Magistrate Court sitting in Osogbo, the state capital.

Udeze was arraigned alongside two other members of the party, messes Adeloye Oluwagbemi Ogunmodede and James Vernimbe for alleged forgery, conspiracy and fraud.

However, hearing in the case could not hold due to the death of one of the defendants in the matter.

The embattled former National Chairman of the AA had already been expelled by the National Executive Council (NEC) of the party for alleged anti party activities.

Also, the former AA National Chairman had earlier been remanded in prison custody after he was arraigned before the court.

Udeze, who was recently sacked by the leadership of the party, was arrested by operatives of Zone 11 of the Nigerian Police Force, with headquarters in Osogbo.

The former AA national chairman was also alleged to have replaced the name of the duly elected governorship candidate of the party in Osun State with another person during the 2018 governorship election in the State.

Counsel to the defendants, Mr M O Olaniyan, had urged the court to grant his clients bail in the most liberal term and this was not opposed by the counsel to the complainant, Mr KA Salawu.

Magistrate Adebola Ajanaku who presided over the court, adjourned the case to 23rd March, 2021 for hearing.

The Magistrate also told the police prosecutor to provide the death certificate of the deceased defendant before the adjourned date.

Journalists are powerful weapons of Nation Building – Ooni Ogunwusi

JOURNALISTS ARE POWERFUL WEAPONS OF NATION BUILDING – OONI OGUNWUSI

The Aroĺe Oodua, Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II has described Journalists as powerful hands in determining the wellbeing of any country, organization or individual in the society.

Oba Ogunwusi stated this in his palace during a Royal Dinner with members of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Osun State Council, on Saturday.

Royal Dinner was part of activities lined up for the NUJ 2020 Press Week.

While speaking, he said “you are doing wonderful and powerful jobs in Nation Building. You can make any individual, organization or country or otherwise, if you want to, with what you write”.

Oba Ogunwusi also encouraged media workers not to look down on themselves because of their financial status, “don’t say you don’t have money, you are very powerful” he said.

The Ooni Ife who reminded Journalists that a former Western Region Prime Minister, Late Chief Obafemi Awolowo started as a Journalist, maintained that the then Ooni of Ife, Alaafin of Oyo and others actually organized to put the late sage forward to the position of leadership.

He therefore charged them to continue to project the image of the society.

Oba Ogunwusi who emphasized that the Oduduwa’s Palace, Ile-Ife is open to all, thanked Journalists for their professionalism, relentless efforts and cooperation towards the programmes and events of the traditional institution.

Earlier, Osun NUJ Chairman, Comrade Wasiu Ajadosu who appreciated the monarch for his cooperation and fatherly strides in Nigeria assured that Journalists in Osun State will continue to work for the wellbeing, sustainability and progress of the programmes of the Ooni of Ife.

He also congratulated the Aroĺe Oodua for the fifth year anniversary on the throne of his fathers as well as the birth of the new heir to the throne of Oduduwa.

The Royal Dinner is a new imput into the annual event of NUJ Press Week in Osun State.
