OSUN’S EDUCATIONAL UPGRADE: A POINTER TO DEDICATION AND EXCELLENCE IN PRAGMATIC GOVERNANCE
Nobody doubts the veracity of the fact that the transformational agenda of the current administration, ably led by Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, has long started yielding positive impacts, ranging from infrastructural upgrade, redefined welfare package for workers, industrialization, agricultural boost and empowerment strides of the Governor, across the nooks and crannies of the State of the Living Spring.
The recent stint of the Adeleke’s government which has created indelible footprint on the minds of the people is the significant improvement in education, that is borne out of extraordinary commitment to people’s welfare, pragmatic governance style and calculated efforts in educational sector, to secure and guarantee a prosperous future for Osun youths from today.
The education sector in Osun which was left neglected and non-performing by successive administrations of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) is now an object of emulation of all Nigerian States, which culminated in teachers’ regained confidence, encouragement, motivation and satisfaction. Thus the attainment of 7th position from the far-away 33rd position in the recently released National Examination Council (NECO)’s results.
This giant feat is not unconnected with impeccable hands put at the Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government. The passion of the members of the State Executive Council in projecting and promoting the five-point integral plan of Governor Adeleke’s administration stands tall as a propeller for greater advancement of the State from all fonts.
Speaking shortly after the the news circulated that Osun State has risen from the 33rd position to 7th, the Asiwaju of Edeland, a visionary leader with a Midas touch, Sen. Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke could not hold back his happiness, over a seemingly impossible dream becoming a reality, just like in a twinkling of an eye.
According to Governor Adeleke, “I promised, and we are delivering. Since I became your Governor, Osun has moved from 33rd to 7th in WAEC/NECO rankings nationally — a feat not achieved in 18 years!”.
“This is proof that our education reforms are working”.
“In 2022, I made a vow to return Osun to academic excellence. Two and half years later, we have achieved a 71% success rate in national exams, with over 29,000 students securing at least five credits, including Math and English. Our female candidates ranked 6th nationwide, while the males came 10th”.
Without mincing words, Osun State under the effective leadership of Governor Adeleke, has surpassed its peers, and it is also shining in the area of international engagements. “We are also making global waves: •Osun students won the Malaysia International Debate in 2024. •We are representing Africa at the AI Robotics Competition in Dallas this May. •We placed 2nd in the National Sewing Competition and ranked best in the NELFUND Education Loan Assessment”, the Governor said.
“This progress reflects our tireless investment in education — from Osun State University and UNILESA to our polytechnics and colleges of education and technology. The work isn’t done yet, my goal is for Osun to be No. 1 in Nigeria, and with your continued support, we will get there”.
“Let’s keep pushing. Osun is rising!”, he said.
In view of the foregoing, the people of the State can be rest assured that efforts are ongoing to become a point of reference, not only in education but also across all sectors, within the space of time.
OSUN COURT RESUMES HEARING ON INISHA CHIEF IMAM CASE, FIXES JUNE 25 FOR FURTHER HEARING
Osun State High Court sitting in Iragbiji, headquarters of Boripe Local Government Area of the state on Tuesday continued hearing on the controversies surrounding the appointment of the Chief Imam of Inisha in Odootin Local Government Area of Osun State which is a subject of litigation before the court since 2021.
At the resumed hearing of the case, one of the Principal Witnesses in the matter, Alfa Abdulsemiu Oladosu was cross examined by cousels standing for the parties involved in the matter.
It would be recalled that the appointment of the Chief Imam of Inisha had in 2021 led to serious fracas in the town, a situation which resulted in breakdown of law and order.
While a section of the Muslim community in the town supported Imam Abdulazeez Tijani, others were in support of Alhaji Abdulakeem Mahamadujamiu.
For years the town was left without chief Imam until the state Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke and the League of Imams and Alfas in the state intervened in the crisis which led to the opening of the town’s central mosque which had been locked for years.
The matter which had been pending in court since 2021 was brought before Justice G.O Lawal of the Iragbiji division of the state High Court on Tuesday for continuation of hearing.
The court admitted some vital documents as exhibits in the case during the hearing.
Counsel to the plaintiff, Mr Jimoh Adebimpe Abdulmumini told the court that two Chief Imams were turbaned in Inisha on a single day, a situation which he said led to serious fracas in the town.
During cross examination, the Principal Witness one (PW1) admitted the evidences brought before him.
He affirmed that crisis erupted at the mosque as a result of the turbaning of the two Imams.
However, Justice Lawal adjourned the case to 25th June, 2025 for further hearing.
OSUN APC IS HALLUCINATING, GOVERNOR ADELEKE NEVER NEGOTIATED DEFECTION TO APC
The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) must be hallucinating with its claim of a failed defection bid. At no time, past or present, has Governor Ademola Adeleke negotiated or considered defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Governor Adeleke, who defeated an incumbent in 2022, has continued to deliver the dividends of democracy, earning recognition from local, national, and international organizations, including federal agencies. With such a record, he has no need to defect to secure victory in 2026.
In over two years of governance, the Governor has not attended any meeting where defection was discussed or considered. Such an idea has never been and will never be on the table.
A performing Governor who has achieved in under three years what the APC could not deliver in twelve, and who enjoys overwhelming support from the people, has no need for a party widely criticized and rejected in Osun due to its past failures and current disarray.
With over 80 percent job approval, and with visible impact across all sectors and regions of the state, Governor Adeleke was recently endorsed for a second term by Osun workers on Workers’ Day. He has no reason to join a party plagued by internal strife and leadership crises.
We view the APC’s recent claim as a diversionary tactic aimed at masking its internal troubles. The party is reeling from self-inflicted damage, with its own members now exposing internal secrets that reflect a legacy of poor governance, divisive politics, and anti-people policies.
We also believe the APC is deeply rattled by the overwhelming support Governor Adeleke has received from workers and citizens across the state.
Let it be put on record: Governor Adeleke’s focus remains on protecting Osun State from desperate politicians determined to destabilize the state in their bid for power.
The Governor has acted as a patriot by engaging all critical stakeholders at a time when agents of chaos sought to plunge the state into crisis. His commitment to peace and the rule of law was evident in his response, which was resolute, lawful, and people-centered.
Governor Adeleke has no regrets in defeating those bent on creating anarchy. His administration will continue to prioritize stability, development, and good governance.
We urge the Osun APC to focus on its internal implosion and face its reality. Governor Adeleke remains committed to the PDP, the platform that is lifting Osun to new heights of progress.

TEXT OF AN ADDRESS BY THE GOVERNOR OF OSUN STATE, HE, SENATOR ADEMOLA ADELEKE AT THE 2025 MAY DAY RALLY
PROTOCOLS
My dear workers of Osun state, I salute you on this occasion of the 2025 May Day rally.
Our administration of workers, by the workers and for the workers warmly welcome you to this arena. Your Governor with workers’ welfare as the number one governance agenda hails our fellow comrades.
I empathize with all workers on the high cost of living in the country. The economic situation has not been easy for the citizenry. We feel your pains as a government that remains committed to your welfare at all cost.
As a subnational government, we have been collaborating with the Federal Government to ease the burden of economic hardship. As a matter of policy, we have gone out of our ways to ensure the success of Federal efforts. We back the centre to reform the national economy and ease the burden on our people.
At the state level, our government is repositioning the state economy to service the people. We are managing state resources in ways and manners that no sector is left behind. While we are not borrowing to fund governance, we have reduced the inherited state debt by over 40 percent. The Debt Management Office confirmed as much in its recent reports.
Our administration has expanded the state GDP through a new lease of life for the business sector. Our records on ease of doing business is commendable. The business community appreciates our 45 day window for the processing and issuance of Certificate of Occupancy. Our government is rebuilding the state economy to benefit the people. Through our local content policies, our professionals, suppliers and artisans are fully engaged. Osun money is servicing Osun people. We are implementing the five point agenda faithfully with workers’ welfare as the number one priority. In all we do, we care for workers and pensioners.
I have just approved, through the Office of the Head of Service, the payment of bonds for retirees under the contributory pension scheme worth over N4b. This is across the State and Local Governments as follows: (a) State, comprising the Civil Service Parastatal, Secondary Schools, Tertiary Institutions, UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital = Two Billion, One Hundred and Seventy Five Million, Two Hundred and Eighty Thousand Naira (N2,175,280,322.54) (b) Local Governments and Primary Schools retirees = Two Billion, Ninety Eight Million, Four Hundred and Sixty Six Naira (N2,098,466,528.87) The total is Four Billion, Two Hundred and Seventy Three million, Seven Hundred and Forty Six Thousand Naira (N4,273,746,851.40) I have equally approved, through the Office of the Head of Service, the commencement of the promotion exercises for Year 2025 for eligible officers and staff across the entire public service, including the Local Governments.
As I speak, the April 2025 salaries and allowances have been paid to all categories of workers across the State.
We have continued unabated, the payment of a 30 months backlog of half salaries. As a matter of fact, we have almost completed payment of the 30 months half salaries in respect of contributory pensioners.
We are pursuing vigorously, the free health care services for our senior citizens.
We have never reneged on the implementation of the new minimum wage in the state which is one of the best in the country.
In our politics without bitterness, we cleared all outstanding deductions from the salaries of workers owed by our predecessors.
We clear all outstanding promotion arrears met on ground including cash backing of such promotions.
On our belief that a well trained public service will enhance our effective service delivery, we have continued to build the capacities of our public servants.
In all of these, we cannot but commend the Head of Service and his team for doing a good job. Going by the feat in the public service, we are convinced that indeed, we have made the right choice.
As we celebrate the 2025 May Day rally, we can beat our chest and affirm that we remain truly pro-workers, pro-people and pro-good governance. Our government has not, will not betray the confidence Osun workers snd people reposed in us.
Once again, happy blessed May Day celebrations.
TeHE, Senator Ademola Adeleke, Executive Governor of Osun State. May 1st, 2025.
