Governor Adeleke commends Ila-Orangun Big Brothers on annual Ojude-Oba celebration

GOVERNOR ADELEKE COMMENDS ILA-ORANGUN BIG BROTHERS ON ANNUAL OJUDE-OBA CELEBRATION

The Executive Governor of Osun State, Sen. Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke has commended the Ila-Orangun Big Brothers for organising a befitting 2026 edition of Ojude Oba Ila-Orangun.

The Governor lauded the organisers for sustaining a cultural initiative that promotes unity among the people and preseves Yoruba’s rich heritage.

The Governor was represented by an illustrious son of Ila-Orangun, the Honourable Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Rev. Dr. Bunmi Jenyo, who also doubled as the father of the day for the 17th edition of the celebration, on Thursday 28th May, 2026.

While speaking, Governor Adeleke pledged that the Ojude Oba Ila-Orangun, held at the Ojugbara Market Square, will continue to enjoy the full support of Osun State Government yearly.

The announcement of the State support generated an excitement and loud applause from the visibly enthusiastic crowd. The Commissioner further demonstrated the government’s support for the cultural celebration by making his personal handsome donation towards the successful outing of the event.

The 2026 edition of Ojude Oba Ila-Orangun is remarkable as it exhibited apparent display of unity, cultural values, peaceful co-existence and harmony amongst the indigenes of the ancient city.

The guest lecturer, Dr. Rabiu Olayinka Iyanda (an associate Professor), delivered a thought-provoking lecture, which centred on peaceful co-existence and unity in diversity. Addressing the mammoth crowd, he cautioned against the misuse of religion and political affiliations as instruments of division, hatred and violence.

Among the dignitaries who graced the occasion were the Executive Governor of Osun State, Sen. Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, represented by Rev. Dr. Bunmi Jenyo; the paramount ruler of the ancient town who was the Royal father of the day, Oba Wahab Oyedotun and his Olori Idayat Oyedotun; legal luminary Barrister Dr. Dotun Oyeniyi; and the ADC Deputy Governorship candidate in the forthcoming August 15 election, Hon. Mrs Yemisi Agiri.

The event also attracted notable personalities including the Alapeju of Ilupeju Ila-Orangun, Oba Dr. Saheed Olamilekan Ibrahim, his queen, Olori Motolani Abeke Ibrahim, Oba Oloja of Oja lla Orangun, the High Chief Owawale of Ikoro Ekiti, Ambassador Mrs. Temi Eboda popularly known as Temi Foods UK, Ms. Fatima Adunni Elemede, Alhaji S.A. Kareem, Prince Ayo Oyinlola, Mr. A. Alesinloye, Pastor Dele Tomori who served as the master of ceremony, members of Ila-Orangun Parapo, members of Ila Ni Mi, Egbe Iyalode, Egbe Iyaloja, Egbe Aranso, Egbe Atarase, Egbe Eléso, the team of Orisun Igbomina FM, the crew of Igbomina Today Magazine, as well as Islamic and Christian religious leaders led by the Chief Imam, Sheikh Dr. Salahudeen.
