Ex AA National Chairman re-arraigned over alleged fraud

EX AA NATIONAL CHAIRMAN RE-ARRAIGNED OVER ALLEGED FRAUD

Former National Chairman of the Action Alliance (AA), Mr Kenneth Obidiche Udeze was on Tuesday rearraigned before an Osun State Magistrate Court sitting in Osogbo, the state capital.

Udeze was arraigned alongside two other members of the party, messes Adeloye Oluwagbemi Ogunmodede and James Vernimbe for alleged forgery, conspiracy and fraud.

However, hearing in the case could not hold due to the death of one of the defendants in the matter.

The embattled former National Chairman of the AA had already been expelled by the National Executive Council (NEC) of the party for alleged anti party activities.

Also, the former AA National Chairman had earlier been remanded in prison custody after he was arraigned before the court.

Udeze, who was recently sacked by the leadership of the party, was arrested by operatives of Zone 11 of the Nigerian Police Force, with headquarters in Osogbo.

The former AA national chairman was also alleged to have replaced the name of the duly elected governorship candidate of the party in Osun State with another person during the 2018 governorship election in the State.

Counsel to the defendants, Mr M O Olaniyan, had urged the court to grant his clients bail in the most liberal term and this was not opposed by the counsel to the complainant, Mr KA Salawu.

Magistrate Adebola Ajanaku who presided over the court, adjourned the case to 23rd March, 2021 for hearing.

The Magistrate also told the police prosecutor to provide the death certificate of the deceased defendant before the adjourned date.

Journalists are powerful weapons of Nation Building – Ooni Ogunwusi

JOURNALISTS ARE POWERFUL WEAPONS OF NATION BUILDING – OONI OGUNWUSI

The Aroĺe Oodua, Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II has described Journalists as powerful hands in determining the wellbeing of any country, organization or individual in the society.

Oba Ogunwusi stated this in his palace during a Royal Dinner with members of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Osun State Council, on Saturday.

Royal Dinner was part of activities lined up for the NUJ 2020 Press Week.

While speaking, he said “you are doing wonderful and powerful jobs in Nation Building. You can make any individual, organization or country or otherwise, if you want to, with what you write”.

Oba Ogunwusi also encouraged media workers not to look down on themselves because of their financial status, “don’t say you don’t have money, you are very powerful” he said.

The Ooni Ife who reminded Journalists that a former Western Region Prime Minister, Late Chief Obafemi Awolowo started as a Journalist, maintained that the then Ooni of Ife, Alaafin of Oyo and others actually organized to put the late sage forward to the position of leadership.

He therefore charged them to continue to project the image of the society.

AA disowns Udeze as National Chairman

AA DISOWNS UDEZE AS NATIONAL CHAIRMAN
…Says he’s an impostor

The leadership of the Action Alliance (AA) has disowned the former national Chairman of the party, Mr Kenneth Udeze, describing him as an impostor who is hell bent at fomenting crisis in the party.

The party noted that the recent action of Udeze when he spoke at the National Assembly during a solidarity visit by the Coalition of Political parties did not represent the position of the party as he lacks the constitutional rights to speak on behalf of the AA.

The National Chairman of the party, Hon Adekunle Rufai Omoaje in a statement released on Friday said Udeze has seized to be the national Chairman of the party since he (Omoaje) emerged as the party’s national chairman at the party’s national convention held in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.

Omoaje said the convention that brought him to office as the national chairman of AA was supervised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and all security agencies.

Describing Udeze as an impostor, Omoaje said the claim by Udeze that he is still the national Chairman of the party was illegal as he is currently standing trial before an Osun State Magistrate Court for various offences including impersonation.

The AA national chairman said the party has declared Udeze as a personanogranta, even as he is currently under indefinite suspension by the party for various anti party activities which are against the constitution of the party.

He said Udeze has cases before different courts in Abuja in addition with his trial at the Osun State Magistrate Court sitting in Osogbo.

He therefore called on security agencies, especially the Nigera Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS) to investigate the claim by Udeze that he’s the national chairman of the AA and make him to face the music if found to be false.

Omoaje also called on members of the public including members of the National Assembly and the media to disregard false claim by Udeze as he has no right to speak on behalf of the party.

He expressed worry that Udeze who had at different times in the past castigatedthe
Chairman of INEC could now be clamouring for his return to office.

It would be recalled that an Osun State Magistrate Court sitting in Osogbo, the state capital had fixed 1st December, 2020 for the rearraignment of Udeze.
