REQUEST FOR ACCOUNTABILITY ON IREE PALACE DONATIONS

Accountability is the soul of trust, especially when dealing with people from all walks of life, who cut across the length and breadth of Ireeland, in Boripe local government area of Osun State.

I think it is high time Iree people knew how much has been contributed and appropriately accounted for, from the donations made for the reconstruction and/or renovation of a befitting and modern Aree’s Palace.

The importance of the exact place where the donations were kept by those who are in charge, cannot be over-emphasized.

It is mind-boggling to note that, up till now, Iree people did not know how much they had realized, or the details of the money since it has not been published for the consumption of all. In fact, people are still in doubt about the accountability of the donations, either with any of the financial institutions or in a personal purse.

Notably, Iree Progressive Union (IPA) is the recognized association of all the indegenes which has a separate Bank Account for Iree people, this can also be used for the purpose of transparency, as regards Palace projects or other relevant adventures.

Nobody doubts the veracity of the fact that the people would like their donations to be prudently handled, it can be managed by whoever with genuine interest, whether residing home or or in the diaspora.

For clarification and selfless commitment, it is also expedient to consider the regular publication of the whole money spent.

The Honourable Commissioner for Commerce and Industry in Osun State has restated the commitment of Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke to make the State a hub of commercial, industrial and economic activities in the South West, Nigeria and beyond.

Rev. Jenyo who represented Governor Adeleke at the Canada-Africa Fintech Summit held at Sheraton Centre Hotel, Toronto Canada made the declaration recently.

The Summit underscores the significance of partnerships in driving fintech innovation, talent development and economic growth in the African Continent.

According to the Commissioner, “the chances of success are higher if the continent leverages on the diasporans’ capabilities in sectors such as Engineering and Technology, Information and Communication, Agriculture, Health, Education, Tourism, Mining, Manufacturing and Renewable Energy, to mention a few. These sectors not only promise substantial financial returns for investors but also align with global trends towards sustainability and technological advancement”.

“Osun State Government is open beyond borders and across space for industrial investment revolutions to investors, Fintechs, ICT Hubs, Manufacturing Industries, World Leaders in Business, Business Executives among others”.

“The Canada-Africa Fintech Summit therefore provides a platform for us to explore opportunities, share ideas and forge partnerships. I believe that our collaboration will yield tangible benefits for both Canada, Africa, Nigeria and Osun State in particular”, the Commissioner said.

In his keynote address, the Nigeria’s Vice President, Sen. Kashim Shettima described the Summit as a gathering that not only symbolized the strength of cross-continental partnerships but also reinforced a collective commitment to shaping a future, where no one is left behind in the digital transformation race.

According to Vice President Shettima, “This summit takes place at a defining moment in our global financial history when digital innovation is disrupting the status quo and reshaping economies. With Toronto being home to over 700 fintech firms and world-class incubators like the MaRS Discovery District, the country is known for its robust innovation ecosystem and stable regulatory environment”.

Contributing over 60% of Africa’s total fintech funding, Nigeria has raised more than $2 billion in startup capital in just the past few years. “Today, over 45% of Nigeria’s adult population access digital financial services, up from 21% a decade ago, a testament to our digital transformation drive”.

“Nigeria’s fintech progress is not accidental; it is the result of deliberate and visionary policy action. Under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, we launched the Aso Accord on Economic and Financial Inclusion, a landmark intergovernmental framework for fast-tracking inclusion through collaboration, innovation, and scale. Aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda, our administration is determined to leverage technology to unlock opportunities for job creation, economic diversification, gender equity, and youth empowerment. Meanwhile in his opening remarks, Dr. Segun Aina OFR, who is the President, Africa Fintech Network and Co-Convener, Canada-Africa Fintech Summit (CAFS) 2025 noted that the event is not just a Summit but a “spark, an incredible platform, a movement. A new chapter in how Canada and Africa engage – with Fintech as a bridge”.

According to him, “Africa is entering what I call it’s Fintech Decade – powered by youthful energy, digital hunger and unstoppable innovation. From mobile banking to blockchain, solutions built for Africa are now inspiring the world – right from the days of MPesa and now with not less than nine Fintech unicorns coming out of Africa and tens of near Unicorns across the continent”.

REV. BUNMI JENYO CONGRATULATES HRH OBA OTITOOLA ON HIS CORONATION

The Honourable Commissioner for Commerce and Industry in Osun State, Rev. Bunmi Jenyo has congratulated His Royal Highness, Oba Samuel Olufemi Otitoola on his historic coronation as the Obaala of Ila-Orangun.

This was contained in a statement by the Commissioner which was made available to newsmen in Osogbo on Saturday.

Rev. Jenyo also commended the paramount ruler, the Orangun of Ila, HRM Oba Abdulwahab Oyedotun Bibire 1 for crowning Oba Otitoola, and actualized the long-standing coronation of the Obaala of Ila-Orangun.

The Commissioner who described the Obaala as a great asset, said receiving the crown will further entrench his focus and commitment to making his domain better and greater.

According to the Commissioner, Oba Olufemi Otitoola has contributed immensely to the well-being and happiness of his people, hence his sovereignty will continue to bring progress and unprecedented development to the people.

He also saluted his noble character, which has contributed immensely to taking him thus far, and encouraged him to be resilient, so that his lofty dreams can be realized.

He therefore prayed for Oba Olufemi Otitoola to be blessed with a resounding reign in the stool of his forebears, in robust health, peace and fulfillment in all ramifications.

“Long may you reign in the position of your fathers, may the Almighty GOD grant you the longevity of life to actualize your lofty dreams of unprecedented development for your people, AMEN”, the Commissioner said.

OSUN HAS MADE MEANINGFUL PROGRESS ON INDUSTRIALISATION, SAYS GOVERNOR ADELEKE AS HE UNVEILED INVESTMENT ROUNDTABLE 2025

The Executive Governor of Osun State, Sen. Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke has emphasized that the State has made meaningful progress in the industrialisation agenda of his administration.

The Governor stated this while unveiling the State Dinner and Industrial Investment Roundtable, held at the Local Government Service Commission Multipurpose Hall, Abere on Friday, 1st August, 2025.

Governor Adeleke said his administration has built a strong foundation, attracted key investment and gained valuable insights from stakeholders across various sectors. “This roundtable serves as a strategic platform to consolidate those gains, explore new possibilities and define a clear roadmap towards industrialisation”

According to Governor Adeleke who was represented by the lead Consultant to the State Government on Climate Change and Renewable Energy, Prof. Chinwe Obuaku-Igwe, “our administration’s mission is to position Osun as the preferred destination for investment in Nigeria”.

“Our State is blessed with rich natural and agricultural resources spread across our local government areas. Over the past two years, the State Government has delivered transformative infrastructure and driven initiatives such as the revitalisation of the Free Trade Zone which is projected to create over 1,000,000 direct and indirect jobs, establishment of modern markets, development of agricultural value chains and well-designed policies on industrial development, digital transformation and youth empowerment”, the Governor said.

“These efforts are building a vibrant, resilient and productive economy through public-private partnerships”.

“Our aim is shared prosperity, powered by inclusive growth, sustainable development and innovation. Osun is proudly showing that this vision is not only possible but already underway. The Osun State government under the leadership of Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke has unveiled the Dinner and Industrial Investment Roundtable, holding on the 7th and 8th October, 2025.

The unveiling which took place on Friday, 1st August 2025 at the Local Government Service Commission welcomed the officers of the Osun State Government, Cabinet members, House of Assembly members, Business Moguls, Corporate Giants, Development Partners, Business Sponsors and other dignitaries to the event.

The investment roundtable is to consolidate on the gains achieved during the Osun State Industrial Investment Summit, held between 10th and 14th September, 2024.

Welcoming the participants, dignitaries and members of the general public in attendance, the Honourable Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Rev. Bunmi Jenyo expressed his delight and satisfaction that the September 2024 Industrial Investment Summit was a huge success.

INDUSTRY EXPERTS, SCHOLARS, OTHERS GATHER TO CELEBRATE 2025 UNIVERSITY RESEARCH FAIR IN OSUN

The spirit of innovation was on full display as researchers, scholars, students and industry experts gathered for the 2025 University Research Fair, to showcase pioneering research projects and solution-driven ideas across diverse fields of study.

The fair held on Wednesday at the Oduduwa Basement at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, was one of the gathering of relevant heads in the academia, business world among others.

The event also served as a platform for researchers from various disciplines within the university to share their findings, exchange ideas and collaborate on future projects.

The keynote speaker at the event, the Honourable Commissioner for Commerce and Industry in Osun State, Rev. Bunmi Jenyo, while delivering his address, titled “Research Commercialisation in Nigeria: Mainstreaming Universities and Industries Collaboration for National Development”, he emphasised the significance of research as it strikes at the very heart of our nation’s quest for sustainable growth, economic diversification, and global competitiveness.

According to him, “in today’s rapidly evolving world, innovation is no longer optional, it is essential. Nigeria boasts a wealth of intellectual capital. Our universities have vibrant ecosystems, generating countless research papers, innovative concepts, and potentially transformative technologies annually”.

“Globally, nations that have surged ahead technologically and economically are those that have successfully integrated Government, their knowledge producers (Universities) with their value creators (Industries).

“The future of Commerce and Industry in Nigeria will therefore depend on our ability to collaborate, research, and build scalable, locally relevant solutions to global challenges. Research institutions such as Obafemi Awolowo University are at the heart of this transformation, from Agriculture to Artificial Intelligence, from Biotechnology to Business development, the fusion of disciplines is leading to breakthroughs that can fuel economic growth, job creation, and national prosperity. This document was designed as a Triple Helix Model which is a collaboration between the Government, Industrial Stakeholders and the Academia”.

REV. BUNMI JENYO APPLAUDS GOVERNOR ADELEKE’S DEVELOPMENTAL STRIDES IN ILA-ORANGUN, OSUN STATE

The Honourable Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Rev. Bunmi Jenyo, has extended heartfelt commendation to the Executive Governor of Osun State, His Excellency, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, for his transformative leadership, particularly as it relates to the dualisation of the Ila-Orangun township road and other people-oriented projects taking place across the State.

Describing the project as both timely and deeply impactful, Rev. Jenyo noted that the people of Ila-Orangun and neighbouring communities are not only witnessing a major infrastructural breakthrough but are also experiencing a renewed sense of belonging and recognition under Governor Adeleke’s administration.

Governor Ademola Adeleke has affirmed that his pact of service with Osun people is unbreakable and sustainable, repeating his vow to deepen the service relationship with the people of the State.

The Governor who spoke today at a massive reception by people of Ila Orangun at the flag off of Ila Orangun township road dualisation said he is committed to delivering on his five point agenda and other electoral promises, stressing that Ila Orangun and other cities are being positively touched by his administration.

The Governor narrated that his administration has so far completed the reconstruction, rehabilitation and renovation of over 200 kilometers of roads, while several dualization and flyover projects are at various stages of completion.

“The Ilesa dualization project is 78 percent completed; the Ile-Ife flyover project is 75 percent completed; the Oke-Fia flyover is over 95 percent done, while the LAMECO flyover is about 55 percent executed.

“I am equally glad to inform this August gathering that the 1.5 kilometers across all the Local Government Areas of the State are almost completed in its entirety. The Oke Gada bridge is 100 percent completed.

“For the records, we have completed the construction of about 2KM length of Oba Jinsin/Ita Obajoko road, Ogunlade Junction – Kamila Junction road and Ajagunla Street. Also, 1.8KM length of the rehabilitation/ construction of Aregun Junction – Ogunlolu road has also been completed in Ila”, the Governor noted.

Hosted by Orangun of Ila Orangun, His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdulwahab Oyedotun; the Orangun of Oke Ila, Oba Adedokun Abolarin; the Akesin of Ora, the Asaoni of Ora and other Royal Fathers across Igbominaland, the Governor said his government is determined, and “we are pushing ahead with the mega projects, adding “I assure the public that our administration will not leave any project uncompleted.

“My dear people of the State, while the first phase of the infrastructure projects is being successfully executed, today we are announcing the take-off of the dualization of the 1st phase of 3.5Km length of Ila Township Road, and this project will be delivered in 10months by the grace of God.

“As part of my government efforts to open up Osun state through road infrastructure, I have also approved the rehabilitation of Ila- Ora- Oke Ila road.

“The rehabilitation job has reached Oke Ila junction, and I want to assure the Orangun of Oke-Ila, the Akesin of Ora; the Asaoni of Ora and my people in Ora that the job will continue shortly”, the state governor declared.

The Orangun of Ila Orangun in his royal welcome address appreciated the performance of the governor since he assumed office, citing several completed and ongoing projects and programmes across the state.
